It’s no secret Florida weather is hot and humid. Recently, as my children are becoming deodorant wearers I find myself becoming more worried about the aluminum in most drug store brands. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has read every scary story about what some people think aluminum does to the body, but regardless of the scary stories, can we really do this in Florida or is it unrealistic.
Natural Deodorant Reviews
I have to tell you, that while it is a long journey, it can be done, I set out on the deodorant only journey about 2 years ago. After personally wearing everything under the sun to keep me from sweating and smelling I can tell you that it takes a really long time to get the aluminum out of your body. Maybe there is a cleanse for it, I’m not sure but you have to be committed to giving it time.
For the first 2 weeks my armpits were crazy red and confused, why were they now being allowed to perspire. I tried every brand there was: drugstore brands, Amazon brands, boutique store brands, and I even made my own out of essential oils. The first 2 weeks I struggled trying to get in my car and not have my husband say, “I’m not trying to be mean but you stink.”
There was more than once that I wanted to go back to the strongest product I could get my hands on but I held strong now I only use deodorants!
Here is what I learned:
It’s Florida so consider starting this NOW when you are less likely to melt from the weather.
Give yourself time, it takes a while for your body to adapt and change from something that you have been doing the better part of your life adult life.
Learn from my trying every single one out there, here are my 3 FAVORITE Natural Deodorants:
Green Tidings it has a fresh lavender scent and actually works all day! It’s easy to apply and dries pretty quickly to make you fresh all day, and not hippy fresh just fresh clean!
Next, is Piper Wai it is a charcoal based deodorant that works well, but you have to physically apply this one into your armpit, no swiping of a stick and running out the door to get the kids to school. If you are willing to stay committed to this one it is well worth it, but it’s messy.
Finally the TEO bar from Lush, this bar is amazing, only issue is if you have shaved before putting it on the tea tree oil tends to burn, you have been warned! It’s awesome but it will burn your pits if you have opened the pours from shaving!
Have you tried to kick the antiperspirant cycle? What is your favorite deodorant? Tell me more in the comments.
