No, I didn’t have the square pizza that you are thinking of! I had a real lunch, with cloth napkins and a server!
As my daughter is discovering High Schools, we toured the Northeast High School’s Discovery Night. While there we were told about the various academies within Northeast High School and Northeast has a Culinary Academy. While my daughter wasn’t interested in this for High School, my ears perked up a bit when they said that every Wednesday they host a school lunch. Jokingly, another parent and I said let’s come for school lunch. Last Wednesday we attended the Northeast High School, Culinary Academy lunch at noon.
We went into the large kitchen and dining area and we were greeted by a student and sat at linen covered tables, how many of those were in the old cafeteria. One of the culinary students handed us our menu for the day, brought us drinks and took our order. The assistant head chef of the school came out and introduced himself and explained that all the food was made completely from scratch and by the students in the program. The food was really good!!! The cost was $10 per person and included your drink, an appetizer, your meal and a desert. It was a pleasant off the beaten path experience and made you feel good to see these kids really taking great pride in their school and schoolwork!
You can make reservations for lunch by clicking here! I strongly suggest trying it out if you have time on a Wednesday. Let me know if you go and “see what’s cooking!”
